In the near future, Norway is occupied by Russia on behalf of the European Union, due to the fact that the newly elected environmental friendly Norwegian government has stopped the all important oil- and gas-production in the North Sea。《黑狱悲歌》以20世纪90年代中期为背景，故事主角克里斯蒂娜是一位诚实、敬业的律师，她发现关系疏远的哥哥被关在监狱，并且是不断壮大的犯罪团伙的头目。在警方的要求下，她成为一名线人，来对付自己一直崇拜的哥哥。但随着她渗透到兄弟会内部，她开始质疑到底什么是正义和公平。。
