寅次郎是个行走江湖的小摊贩，成日里到处流浪。听说父亲已经去世，家里只剩下了妹妹樱花一个人，他便赶回了家中。这天寅次郎来到叔父家，参加给妹妹樱花介绍对象的相亲之宴。由于寅次郎的谈话和举止都显得比较粗鲁，对方的印象非常糟糕，亲事也就只好告吹。寅次郎无奈地再次走上流浪之路。在奈良的一个寺庙，寅次郎碰到了帝释天寺的住持和其女儿冬子。冬子的美丽将寅次郎深深吸引，此时妹妹和一个工厂的职员恋爱并顺利结婚，这让寅次郎更深地感到了自己生活的寂寞。寅次郎鼓起勇气告诉冬子自己喜欢她，冬子却告诉他自己已经有情人了，寅次郎只好离开，继续走向漫漫的江湖之路。。Will & Grace are best friends.
