三浦史朗（生田斗真饰）的老家经营着以「丸金温泉」为名的钱汤，但他不打算继承家业，离家后出外闯荡，却因为发展不顺而重返老家。此时钱汤已经由弟弟三浦悟朗（滨田岳饰）继承亡父之志继续经营。史朗的返家，让兄弟两人水火不容。而这个钱汤还有在那边工作的少女秋山泉（桥本环奈饰），这三人将如何相处？又该怎样让「汤道」的精神给传扬出去呢？。故事背景设在明治64年，并由德川庆喜掌握权力的另一个日本。国家靠能量源「龙脉」，形成江户和科学混合的独特发展。但繁华背后，反体制派组织「蛇」正酝酿革命之火。德川政府委任暗组织「鵺」将其驱除。女主角-雪村笑羽在幼时被灭门，于是她作为「鵺」的处刑人，为报仇而持续寻找蛇野目……。James Robertson buys a painting depicting witches being burned at the stake, one of whom bears an uncanny resemblance to his wife, Chris.
